On March 12, 2008, Stewart underwent surgery on his big toe and is expected to be out four to six months.[5]
Stewart, 21, was ranked among the top three running backs entering the April draft, along with Darren McFadden and Rashard Mendenhall.
This tells me that Jonathan Stewart had a lot of setbacks on his path to the draft, but he was still considered one of the best backs in the nation.
